2025 was defined by one important milestone for SNPS: preparing for the transition to the new pension scheme on 1 January 2026.
Preparations for the transition had started several years earlier, but 2025 was the year in which all activities came together. The implementation plan was approved by De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), while the Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) confirmed that it had no substantive comments on the communication plan. This marked the completion of an important phase in the preparations and allowed the focus to shift fully towards implementation.
A carefully managed transition
Transitioning to a new scheme involves much more than introducing new regulations. Systems, processes, participant communication and data all need to be ready. Throughout 2025, SNPS therefore invested significant effort in data quality, independent reviews and system adjustments. When it became clear that the new AllVida administration platform of Achmea Pensioenservices (APS) would not be available on time, SNPS implemented an alternative scenario using the existing MAIA platform. This ensured that the transition timetable remained on track.
Behind the scenes of your pension
The transition to the new scheme required close cooperation between the Board, the pension office, service providers, supervisors and the Accountability Body.
By identifying risks at an early stage, preparing alternative scenarios and carefully assessing decisions, SNPS remained on track in a complex year.
During 2025, SNPS also established a dedicated investment forum. This forum discusses developments in the financial markets, investment risks, sustainability and asset management in greater depth. These discussions support the Board in making well-informed decisions regarding your pension.
Guidance and support
SNPS wanted to actively support participants during the transition to the new pension scheme. That is why everyone was able to make use of online tools, webinars, personal consultations and support through Prikkl. According to SNPS, helping participants make informed choices is an important part of the pension scheme. Not only because the scheme is changing, but above all because participants can make choices that affect their future pension. To support this, the fund invested in the SNPS PensionNavigator and personal guidance.
Looking ahead
Now that the transition to the new pension scheme has taken place, SNPS continues to focus on the effective execution of the plan. Reliable systems, clear communication and user-friendly digital tools remain key priorities.
At the same time, the fund continues to look ahead. Preparations have started for the selection of a new pension administrator, while ongoing attention is being given to service quality, operational reliability and participant support.
In summary
2025 was the year in which SNPS completed its preparations for the new pension, actively supported participants in making their choices and laid the foundations for the next phase of the fund's development. The experience gained during the transition provides a strong basis for the fund's continued development in the years ahead.
